A team of 4 boys and 4 girls from Y5 and Y6 represented Knightwood at the Eastleigh and Winchester Quad Kids event held at Winchester athletic stadium.
Quad Kids is a track & field athletics competition for Primary Schools. The competition is team based and comprises of 4 events - a 75m sprint, a long jump, a vortex javelin throw and a 600m middle distance run. All competitors take part in all 4 events and score points for their times and distances. The team with the highest cumulative points is the winner.
It was a very exciting event to take part in because, unlike other competitions, you don’t really know how well you have done until the results are announced at the end. I am delighted to say that once again our children competed fantastically well and finished runners up out of the 15 schools who competed. One of our children, Mete Watson, scored more points than any other boy that took part in the event. The winning school was from Winchester so we finished fist in the Eastleigh district and therefore get the chance to attend the Hampshire school games at the end of June. I am sure you will agree that this is an excellent achievement, especially as it is the first time we have taken part in Quad Kids. Well done the children. You were exceptional.
