This week year 5 had professional coaches in for both classes, who had two days each, to teach them how to be safe on and around roads. They had a great time and learnt lots about how to signal, turn, block and interpret signs. `The coaches were great and fun!!` All the people who took part improved greatly, even if they started at different stage. After all of the fun, year 5 got ranked stage 1 or 2. Every one had things to improve but overall it was an inspiring and fun week.
As part of their project on Ancient Greece, Year 5 have been making some lovely Greek pots and illustrating them to depict various Greek Myths that they have been learning about.
On Wednesday 12th year 5 spent the day at INTECH Science Centre and Planetarium.
It was a busy morning as there was so much to discover. We spent time exploring the hands on experiments and understanding the science behind each of them, many of which involved a lot of team work in order to be successful! We also had a Destination Space workshop where we found out a lot more about being an astronaut including how they have to cope with issues such as needing the toilet!
After a very quick lunch it was off the planetarium for a very real tour of the solar system on a trip called the Cosmic Journey. It was a fascinating show that was made even better at the final question and answer session when we were told that all but a couple of the images we had been shown were real photos taken from a variety of satellites.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Curriculum Evening. If you were unable to attend, the hand outs will be sent home this week with your child and the powerpoint can be found on the class page.
