Year 2 have been learning about Florence Nightingale this half term. On Monday the children came to school dressed as soldiers, nurses, doctors or Florence Nightingale. They had a fun and creative day learning about how different people felt about Florence and re-enacting the hospital before and after she came.
Y2 had a great day preparing a healthy lunch for the teachers. They used all their learning from the Healthy Living Topic to plan the lunch, ensuring there was food from all the food groups to ensure it was both balanced and nutritional.
Thank you Y2, the lunch was delicious!
This week Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Sea City Museum in Southampton. While we were there we had the opportunity to dress up as people from the Titanic, learn about the different rooms and smells aboard the ship and discover different reasons that it sank.
We will be continuing our learning about the Titanic in class.
The year 2 children had a wonderful day 'visiting' the Isle of Coll. The children have been learning about the island, the geographical features and what life is like there.
The day started with a train ride followed by a ferry journey to the pier on the island. They then made there way onto the 'island' to find rock pools, sandy beaches, hills and a village shop. The children enjoyed exploring the island, drawing wildlife and shells and even writing postcards home.
The children had a great day dressed as pirates and were inspired to write fabulous Pirate Stories.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Curriculum Evening. If you were unable to attend, the hand outs will be sent home this week with your child and the powerpoint can be found on the class page.
